About Us

Greg is an underground expert with nearly 50 years of experience in the construction industry.  He started operating equipment on his family ranch as a teenager, then began a company installing septic tanks and later ran his own landscape company.  

Greg co-founded Santa Cruz Underground and Paving in 2005. 

Over the past 50 years, Greg has done it all. 

You would be hard pressed to find anyone more knowledgeable about construction than Greg. 

Greg grew up near Aptos, California and played football at Aptos High School. 

Greg is friendly, outgoing, trustworthy and a true leader. 

He has built his reputation on providing fair, honest pricing and delivering high quality projects of all scopes and sizes.

Matt has worked in heavy civil construction since 1999.  He joined the SCUP team in 2020 after 21 years in project manager and estimator positions for a large heavy civil contractor. 

His experience ranges from highway paving, dirt moving, concrete paving/flatwork/structures, mass excavation, structure excavation/backfill and underground utilities.  

He is known for building long lasting relationships with public agencies, general contractors and private clients based on trust and transparency. 

Matt leads by example and puts the safety of his team before all else.  He vows to deliver first rate customer service with every project.  

SCUP crews are specialized in all facets of civil construction.  They are friendly, hardworking and dedicated to delivering high quality projects on time and budget.  Safety is always our first priority.  SCUP crews look out for their own safety as well as the safety of their team and our clients.  We train to recognize situations that may distract from our goal of zero incidents.
